New guidance on the Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme
The Chancellor announced a new coronavirus Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme in the Budget 2020. HMRC have now published new online guidance about it which includes information about who can use the scheme and the records employers must keep.
This scheme will allow small and medium sized employers, with fewer than 250 employees, to apply for HMRC to recover the costs of paying Statutory Sick Pay to their employees.
Unfortunately, existing systems are not set up to facilitate payments to employers, so HMRC are having to set up a new system for reimbursement.
Details about when the scheme can be accessed and when employers can make a claim have not yet been announced. We will update you when these details are available.
