In addition to income, corporation, capital gains, VAT and inheritance tax, our tax specialist have significant experience in managing investigations and enquiries in regards employment engagements and IR35 enquiries.

Managing employment disputes

In many cases, determining the correct employment status of a person who works for your business  (ie. is it employment or self-employment) is not a straightforward process and there are many factors that need to be considered.

At Hawsons we look at the engagement of each worker and, accordingly, help you to mitigate the risk of a challenge by HMRC. We can also help you if you have been challenged by HMRC in regards to employee engagement, potentially reducing the amount you would have to pay back.

IR35 enquiries

All contractors who are operating through a limited company and paying themselves in dividends are at risk of an IR35 enquiry. Our tax team can help advise on whether IR35 legislation is relevant to your specific engagements and, if so, review all current contracts to see whether they are compliant within the scope of the legislation.
